Solid State Drive for laptops vs 5400 RPM SATA drive. Which is faster?
I've been using laptops for years and never needed a faster SATA on a laptop. But I was recently talking to people who have a SSD (solid state drive) and they say it's faster. How much faster? If I'm doing video editing much difference in speed will there be? Finally, the SSD fits in the same slot as a 2.5 "SATA drive or can I contact the manufacturer? Am I missing something?
The solid state drive is faster. They are still sold in 2.5 "size. However, there no moving parts in the solid state, resulting in less hard drive crashes. Because the straight electricity, the SSD read and write information faster than the SATA drive.
