The main factor limiting the use of solid-state drives in laptops and desktop computers cost. Super Talent says is 40 percent thinner than the other 256 GB SSD to market at the moment.

These revenues were 3 billion U.S. dollars more than their combined income of the HD-year. That is 3 billion U.S. dollars is itself larger than the size of the SSD market in 2007. So even though the SSD market is growing rapidly (about a doubling of revenue for the foreseeable future) is will not slam the brakes on growth in the hard disk market.
Replacing the hard disk SSD is not easy thinking by enterprisers. For example – in the server market acceleration the factor – SSD costs versus additional server costs – and is entirely separate from the hard drive costs. If we accept the results of this forecast the impact of SSDs could halve the number of servers needed in the long term. That would hit server shipments, but is probably a high capacity effect (up terabyte) hard drives. This is because the number of hard disks needed for bulk data storage and backup networks in enterprise storage is related to the growth and the data server numbers. In this scenario SSD's and HDS parallel can exist – and both markets can grow at the same time.
