buying new HDD advice?
Hello I am buying a new HDD and need advice. First to emphasize the need for a laptop because 2.5 ". My plan is to change it later with a SSD and use it as an external hard drive so I go for a 500 to 1000 GB disks and I want it as 7200RPM I hear they are faster for the same temperature and noise levels are as 5400RPM. I currently have stopped about the Seagate Momentus 7200.3 as 7200.4 is much more. Any advice will be great of you be.
The highest capacity 2.5 "drive I've seen is 500GB, and even those are 5400 RPM. May slightly higher capacity drives on the market, but not to 1 TB. The rotational speed is called judgment - it is not true in general that the faster drives do not produce more heat and noise than the slower Ones. Instead it is a matter of size - the extra noise and heat is acceptable in light of the additional benefits which will typically run faster? As for the price, you can expect to pay. You are imposing requirements requirements for a 2.5 "drive in terms of speed and capacity and as such will have a price tag match.
