what is an alternative to 1.8 "ATA IDE HD in a tablet PC?
I have ThinkPad X41 Tablet running with a 1.8 "ATA 44-pin HD (no brand). I disabled many of IBM software and upgrade the ram to 1.5, which is the maximum that it can get. I use the tablet a lot for my studies and work. I am running Windows XP Tablet OS 2005? However, the machine actually runs so slowly. I am sure it has no virus / malware / trojan because I formatted and reinstalled skinned version of the OS. I asked IBM as an alternative to the 1.8 ", but they do not know the answer. I can not afford an SSD (I wish I could). Does anyone know if this tablet is suitable for a 2.5"? There are many very inexpensive connector 1.8 to 2.5 "Mobile HD but am not sure if this machine can fit this form. I'm just trying my luck even on the back of my This spirit could be branded as a stupid message. If the machine is designed around an internal 1.8 "drive will not be able to adjust slightly larger. You can use larger drives externally by introducing in a hard drive enclosure and connected it via USB. But you will be able to boot from these external drives. If your machine is running slowly I am looking for some applications and services on the background and how much CPU time they consume. There are a few free apps that can help you determine CPU load, among other things. Check: http://www.desktopsidebar.com Once loaded and configured, you can use CPU, HDD activity monitor, and other items that could be dragging down your system. Then you go to Start> Run. Type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) and look under Startup and Services tabs. From here you can close unnecessary processes that eat system resources. You must be careful and selective about what you quit, So if you are unsure of the processes for research or get help from someone on this knowledge. You should be able to idle on your system somewhere between 1% - 8% CPU usage and if you can achieve the system much more responsive.
