The SSD makes an unbelievable distinction in efficiency. Start up for example takes about 10 seconds or so? Never timed it but it is really quick.
Battery life is most significant issue to me. I really should have timed it all out with the mechanical tough drive to compare with the SSD but I didn't. I realize SSD's consume a bit much less energy. At any rate, on the 6-cell original battery I was obtaining about 8 hours of intermittent use utilizing ECO mode. In spurts I would be downloading and installing software, playing some music and some other light work. Using about the same habits with the new 9-cell battery I'm getting about 12 hours of use ahead of the battery drops below 10%. At 10% it says there is certainly about two hours of time remaining. This is plenty of battery for the kind of use I anticipate to obtain inside the field.
I've seen other comments about the extra software program Toshiba loads on these devices. I deleted some clearly useless points (Amazon links and such) but left all the Toshiba stuff alone for essentially the most portion. It does not seem to have any appreciable affect on efficiency or life.
