Solid State Disk Drive vs.?
I'm in the process of building a laptop and I'm stuck on whether or not I should go with a solid state disk. I know I can get more space for less money with the disc, but the SSD I am looking for is 120 GB, so I'm not too worried about space or the price difference, I'm just looking for more or less a parallel comparison of the performance (ie, start, battery life, life of the station). The remaining specs are a Radeon HD 3650, 2.5 GHz Intel T9300, 4 GB RAM, 15.4 "widescreen. Before I start always people telling me not to build a laptop, I am not an amateur computer builder, this is my fifth and to build instead of a desktop, I finally caved in and realized I needed a laptop. There are no compatibility issues with one of components. So in other words, answer the question and no comments on how else to do. For those who are curious, it's more a bare bones kit from OCZ than a building.
provided that you get an SSD with a fast write time (be careful and read) it will perform better than a normal hard drive to perform and will be less battery drain isn't as corrupt-able and will take longer. if you have the money then theres no reason to get one on one HDD. But as I said make sure the SSD has a write time of more than 100MB / s
