Faster with the page / swap file on another disk when sharing the IDE channel (master / slave)?
I considered setting this up on a old XP computer with only 512 MB of RAM. I have a few extra small SSDs The older computer has only one IDE interface / channel, but not have to share with an optical drive. I know it would be a good setup to have the page file on another disk as the individual wires had, but not sure if they agree Master / Slave mode. Is it true only one device can talk at a time in this setup?
The IDE is still faster than the drive itself. If your computer has to try a disk and try a different drive will be faster than trying to do both at the same station. The single controller not your bottleneck.
