This is my second netbook and very impressed. Most of these Netbooks are very similar in performance and the selection really comes down to personal preferences. A few things I like;
- The touchpad has a "bump" surface rather a smooth
- Keyboard layout is ideal for typists (my other netbook is nice but it makes me crazy with the smaller right shift key and offset)
- The screen is bright and can easily be adapted to improve battery life
- As mentioned in other reviews, the battery life is great
- Most important for me was the easy access to the memory and hard disk. This netbook has two entrances at the bottom so you can upgrade the memory or hard disk without being completely disassembled (as opposed to the new Asus models)
I upgraded the hard disk to a 80G SSD and memory to 2G. It will never compete with a laptop or desktop loaded, but it is quite fast (for being a Netbook) and easily handles MS Office.
The only point that causes a problem, the AC adapter. It has a fairly large plug and does not fit in tight places (like some of the convenience outlets on the desks in the rooms). However, this is only a small discomfort.
Overall this is a great netbook and plan to half of a family member purchase benefits.

You have the XP version, because the whole idea-of win7 'starter' makes me angry. But in particular the possibility of the desktop on another monitor to extend (without a paid upgrade) is a major disadvantage for a unit with a 10 "screen. No prob with the XP version, as it is. XP versions are not available> 160Gb hard drive, so there's your balance.
I'm serious considered the ASUS brand, which is well reviewed and offers little more bang for the buck, but I own other Acer products, and finally just went with the familiar brand. I like the color too, FWIW.
The unit was wrapped in the familiar grip section and came a day early with no signs of MIS-handling. Unpacking and setting up the unit is straight-forward. Removed several "Free trial versions," dug up our home network key, download Firefox, AVG, and a Citrix client (which is me on the company server), and went to work.
The screen is clear, bright and very sharp. I had no trouble working with text and images smaller. Do not hate the "chicklet" keyboard. I seem to have only four fingers, but good speed and no more typos than usual.
XP recognized all peripheral devices in the home, including two Canon printers, a Chinese knockoff portable DVD drive and multiple mice, keyboards and monitors. With mouse, keyboard and cheap 17 "monitor, this netbook is a desktop replacement so powerful and useful as any laptop I've ever owned. Disconnect everything, and are much more portable - less than half the price.
Only warning is that I'm not a gamer, so there is no comment. The video and sound systems are much good for what I do. Before he recognized my crappy old 17 "monitor for the wimp, was offering me a number of very large pixel resolution choices.

Exactly what I needed! Perfect for On-the-Go.
This is the perfect on-the-go machine for me. I am a student at a technical school and this little computer is such a help. I admit, I am not very technologically inclined (then to technical school), but I've found my Acer is very user friendly. If you're used to a desktop or larger laptop, the small screen takes some adjustment. For me, the portability is worth the small screen. I was worried that the keyboard would be small, but I have no trouble. The battery life is more that I had hoped. With moderate use, I have four days without recharging the battery. Also, I have not experienced no problems while running multiple programs. My Acer is the perfect extension of my home PC. I use it for one month and I still love her.

I found it useful as a second laptop. Opted for XP Home, because I was able to use a secondary pastoral. I upgraded the memory to 2 GB, so I could do something more. Life of battery is OK (never tried to push for 8 hours already)

Everything I wanted in a netbook
Great little netbook, the first thing I did was pop in a 2GB DIMM. Extremely easy to memory and hard disk access for this model not to have to do the keyboard, as on some other models (Asus, Dell removed, Samsung etc)
There has been some controversy about some memory that will run on Acer ... on a gamble, I bought 2 GB of memory G. Skill F2 5300CL5S 2GBSK Zero issues, booted right up had nothing to do in the BIOS.
Pros: Silver color (not a fingerprint magnet on the outside)

10 hours battery (probably do not get that long, but maybe close)

Easy access to the hard disk if you want to change

Did you initially thought of a 14 "Thinkpad for an upcoming trip, but decided it was too bulky to bring with me. This netbook will accomplish all that I need for the coming months. Recommend!

I bought this in red. It is a deep chestnut brown and although it is very nice, I think the blue onyx, which is a blue-black, looks very nice, too.
I'm very glad I bought the machine. I have recommended it to everyone I know who is thinking about buying a netbook. It is very thin and lightweight, about as thin as a small book, and it looks very masculine and professional. (For both men and women think men looking for computers to carry the day. One female computer looks very unprofessional.) I had looked at a number of brands in stores and thought they looked like children's toys and cosmetics cases. I did not Want a computer that could be mistaken for a makeup case and I certainly do not want a toy.
I saw the blue Acer on sale at Office Depot 7 starter and I was very impressed with her, but I have XP and no one wanted the local bears no netbooks with that OS so I ordered from Amazon, pay extra for the red.
It's exactly what I wanted. I liked it so much I spent the first few hours after I got it connected to the network to email everyone I knew to telling them. Most academics who want a small netbook to conduct conferences.
A friend has an older Samsung netbook and hers is about the size of an older desktop cassette. Remember these? And is about as heavy. Although the screen is the same size as the Acer's machine is much thicker. The Acer feels like a feather in comparison.
I was also able to put some of my software to copy to a flash drive and install on your computer, although I am not a techie. It was not all too difficult and saved me the cost of an external DVD / CD drive.
The keyboard is quite large and relatively easy to use. And I found the screen quite an appropriate size. It does not feel cramped.
I also discovered through customer comments that it is possible to upgrade to 2GB RAM on this model, although the manufacturer does not say. However, each of the seven Starter and XP versions of this model on different memory modules. People who are interested should look up Custo

PC2-6400 2 GB CT25664AC800 did not work with this netbook
Very pleased with this netbook. now used for 1 week. It does what it claims to do. Very nice machine. Only problem is getting used to the mouse pad.
There is a considerable amount of more than dabate upgrade to 2 GB of RAM. I have 2 GB PC2-6400 800 card and installed and the computer would not boot.
I bought this Acer Ao532h Windows 7 Starter for my wife. I popped the memory card in hers and started without a problem and immediately the 2 GB of RAM. I then placed the 1GB card from the Acer Ao532 7 Windows machine to my (Acer A0523 Windows XP) and the did not boot either. So I am now convinced that both machines diffferent memory cards because of the difference in the operating system to use. I hope what I say is true. Maybe it's my Acer Windows XP is not good (based on a preliminary review customers) or I may need another memory card.
Update: I ordered the Crucial 2GB DDR2 SODIMM CT25664AC667 256Mx64PC2-5300 200-pin Laptop memory installed on my Acer Ao532h with Windows XP and started to recognize 2GB RAM. Works like a champ. Now I I am very satisfied. ***** 5stars. Absolutely 100% satisfied with this netbook, and so is my wife. Her to run on Windows Starter Pack 7.

This is the Windows XP version, but has a bigger battery and bluetooth
Be aware that this comes with Windows XP, Windows 7 is not starter, which has become the de facto standard for netbooks.
This can be attractive even if you To XP, or because you do not want to use the new operating system, Win7, or because you learn specific advantages legacy to XP (Win7 is slightly faster than the Atom processors that lightweight Most netbooks Run Run). Please note that if you do not want the new operating system, which is probably not the best of reasons, since long-term support is likely going to be better for Win7, and Microsoft to learn reporting fewer problems than the virus Win7 with XP (although that may just be due to the fact that Win7 is new).
Unlike the operating advantages and drawbacks, this device comes with a powerful battery (10 hours battery life Battery 5400 MA), the other current editions have a0532h less power, so 8 hours battery life. This device has Bluetooth.
So for about $ 30 over the cost of the most common issue, and you downgrade to WinXP upgrade to Bluetooth and a stronger battery.
If you upgrade the memory, the newest postings indicate you need a 800 MHz module (PC-6400, no PC-5300, as indicated by Acer specs published use).
My rating of this device is based on my brief ownership of the "standard" edition Win7 Acer AO532h-2223 10.1-inch netbook Matrix Silver - Up to 8 hours battery life.
My current favorite is the HP Mini 210 netbooks HP Mini 1010NR 210-10.1-inch Netbook Black - 4.25 hours battery life, mainly due to the matte screen (instead of shiny). But the Acer a0532h have a number of attractive features such as wireless "n" to support and a 6 cell battery (in the lower capacity) for the same price as the HP with a 3 cell battery and wireless "g".
